1.Philanthropy
Dr Ali is heavily involved in charity projects in his native
India. One such project is the Sagoor Clinic and Training
Centre. The centre is a charitable clinic set in the Kangra
Valley. It was established in 2005 to provide free medical
services to 50 000 people within a 10 km radius. There are no
clinics in this area so the Sagoor is badly needed. The clinic
sees twenty to twenty five patients a day. Medicines are
supplied free to the very poor and nominal charges are made for
the rest.

2.Training at the Clinic
Dr Ali has set up a training centre at the clinic. An Ayurvedic
doctor has been recruited and a massage and yoga therapist are
currently being trained in Delhi. The training centre houses
visiting doctors, trainers and teachers from around the world.
These visitors stay for a few weeks, teaching English, computer
skills, hygiene, farming methods, sports, environmental studies
and other skills vital to that society.

3. Education
Dr Ali wants to pass on his knowledge to future generations.
Through his charity projects such as The Sagoor Clinic, he has
been instrumental in ensuring that the ancient wisdom of
traditional medicine is preserved. Dr Ali ensures that doctors
visiting the clinic work closely with the elders of the
village. This means that the traditional can combine with the
modern. The elders can pass on their knowledge and skills to the
younger generation whilst also gaining benefit from the
conventional skills and medicine provided by the visitors.
4. Training
Dr Ali has trained four batches of NHS doctors over the past
four years. These doctors have been instructed in simple
diagnostic techniques, observation skills and methods to treat
common acute and chronic ailments. The basis of Integrated
Healthcare is self care. Patients are encouraged to follow a
regiment of
diet, exercise, massage and relaxation. Following these
instructions ensures the use of medicine is kept to a minimum.
Reports back from the doctors trained by Dr Ali state that they
have prevented and cured many illnesses by using integrated
medical techniques.
The result of these 4 areas will determine the future. Dr Ali wants to establish the model of Integrated Healthcare within the conventional medicine arena and pass on his knowledge to future generations. Dr Ali believes that the NHS should train GPs in the principles of Integrated Medicine. Preventing as well as curing disease will mean fewer burdens on expensive specialist and hospital treatment. The vast majority of cases brought to GPs are minor ailments. If people are offered free guidance and services to improve their health they would make use of them. As a result, the number of hospital visits would drop, the queues would be reduced and the general health of the nation would improve.
