In this article we answer your Frequently Asked Questions about Vaginal Tightening.

What Causes Vaginal Laxity or Looseness?

Most women experience some vaginal changes as a result of pregnancy and childbirth, weigth gain, hormonal changes, menopause and aging. All of these factors can lead to a loss of collagen, causing the vagina to lose its strength and structure and become “loose” or “lax”. In as many as 40% of women this looseness of the vaginal canal results in a loss of sexual pleasure – as well as loss of confidence in intimate situations.

What Causes My Bladder to Leak?

There can be many cause of bladder leakage – by among the most common is a condition called “Stress Urinary Incontinence.” This is the medical term for urinating or “peeing” a little when you cough, sneeze, laugh, exercise or otherwise exert yourself.

Stress incontinence happens when the muscles and tissues around the opening of the bladder become weakened.  There are a number of reasons why these muscles lose strength, including: weight gain, injury, pregnancy, vaginal childbirth, hormone changes and aging.

When pressure is suddely applied against the bladder – from coughing, laughing, exercising, etc. – the opening doesn’t stay closed, and urine leakage happens.

How Does Geneveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Work?

The Geneveve procedure applies heat to targeted areas of the vagina using radiofrequency. This stimulates collagen production, which helps to strengthen and thicken the muscles and tissues in the walls of the vagina.

As a result of the thickened and strengthened vaginal tissue, the vagina feels tighter. This not only increases sexual sensation and reduces dryness, but also helps stop embarrassing bladder leakage.

How is the Geneveve Vaginal Tightening Treatment Performed?

A small wand is inserted inside the vagina to deliver gentle pulses of radiofrequency energy that stimulate the body’s own collagen production. It is a non surgical procedure – so there is no incision, no stiches, no scarring.

How Many Vaginal Tightening Treatments Will I Need?

Most women require only a single 30 to 45 minute Geneveve vaginal tightening treatment.

Does the Geneveve Vaginal Tightening Treatment Hurt?

No. Radiofrequency energy simply heats the deeper vaginal tissue. The treatment also includes a cooling process that ensures the application is comfortable and painless.

How Much Recovery Time Will I Need?

None! There is no downtime after Geneveve vaginal rejuvenation. You can return to your normal activities immediately following your treatment, including exercise. There will be no visible signs of the procedure, as well as no changes in vaginal odor or discharge.

Dr. Ali typically recommends that you only wait 48 hours after your treatment before having any type vaginal penetration. This will allow your vaginal tissue to begin the collagen restoration process.

How Soon Will I See Results after my Vaginal Tightening Procedure?

You will begin to notice vaginal improvement within the first few weeks after treatment. As your body’s collagen production increases, your results will continue to improve over time. Within 6 to 12 weeks most women experience maximum improvement in vaginal sensitivity, tightness and bladder control.

Is There Anyone Who Cannot Have Geneveve Vaginal Tightening Treatments?

Because there are no side effects or interactions, almost all women are good candidates for Geneveve Vaginal Tightening Treatments. However, women who have a pacemaker or defibrillator may not have Geneveve procedures due to the radiofrequency that is used.

Does Health Insurance Cover Geneveve Vaginal Rejuvenation?

In many cases your insurer may consider vaginal rejuvenation an elective procedure, so it may not be covered. However, in cases where a patient has a medical diagnosis – such as a moderate or severe pelvic prolapse or stress urinary incontinence – your insurance company may consider the treatment medically necessary and cover it.

Our staff will work with your insurance company to pursue any insurance coverage that may be available.
